Chinas Railway Lines Could Circle Earth Twice

China has built one of the most extensive railway networks in the world. With over 146,000 kilometers of track, it ranks second globally in total railway length. But quantity is not the only impressive metric. China also operates the world's longest high-speed rail network, spanning over 38,000 kilometers. These bullet trains connect major cities at speeds up to 350 kilometers per hour. The railway expansion has been a cornerstone of China's economic development strategy, connecting remote regions to coastal manufacturing centers. The network carries billions of passengers and billions of tons of freight annually. Major projects include the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the highest railway in the world, which crosses mountain passes at elevations exceeding 5,000 meters.
