Franklin D. Roosevelts beloved Scottish Terrier, Fala, was not just a pet, he was a political phenomenon. The dog became so famous that he received thousands of letters from adoring fans. Fala had his own secretary to handle his correspondence and even had a personal press secretary. He traveled everywhere with FDR, attended important meetings, and slept in a special chair at the foot of the presidents bed. Fala outlived his master by seven years and is buried near him at Hyde Park.
