More detail
In one of the most dramatic collapses in cycling history, Floyd Landis went from Tour de France champion to disgraced cheater in less than a year. Landis won the 2006 Tour de France in spectacular fashion, making an incredible comeback in the mountains after collapsing the day before. However, he tested positive for an abnormally high ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone during the race. Landis fought the charges for over a year, spending millions on his defense, but an arbitration panel upheld the drug test results in 2007 and stripped him of his title. In 2010, Landis sent an email to USA Cycling officials admitting he and former teammates including Lance Armstrong were guilty of doping.
