While much of Imelda Marcos jewellery collection was displayed at the presidential palace, some of the most valuable pieces were hidden far away. Investigators discovered a breathtaking ruby and diamond tiara locked in the vault of the Swiss central bank. The piece alone was estimated to be worth more than $8 million, representing just one item in her vast collection of luxury goods. The tiara was part of the jewellery confiscated by the Philippine government after the Marcoses were overthrown in 1986. When combined with her other seized jewels including diamond necklaces, gold pieces, and antique brooches, the total collection was valued at over $21 million by Sotheby's auction house experts.
