More detail

Genghis Khan rise to power was a long and brutal journey that began in his childhood. Born as Temujin around 1162, his father was poisoned when he was just nine years old, and his tribe abandoned his family to avoid supporting them. Temujin spent his youth and early adulthood fighting rival tribes and building alliances across the Mongolian steppe. He was captured and enslaved at one point but managed to escape. Through a combination of military genius, political savvy, and ruthless determination, he gradually defeated rival chieftains. In 1206, at approximately age 40, Temujin finally achieved what no one had done before: he united all the nomadic tribes of Mongolia under his rule. At a grand council called a kurultai, he was proclaimed Chinggis Khan, meaning Universal Ruler, marking the beginning of the Mongol Empire.
