Honey never spoils — edible honey has been found in 3,000-year-old Egyptian tombs
Archaeologists have discovered honey in ancient Egyptian tombs that is still perfectly edible after 3,000 years. Honey's longevity is due to its very low moisture content, acidic pH, and natural production of hydrogen peroxide — all of which prevent bacterial growth. Properly sealed honey effectively never expires.
